No solo la ropa y las distorsiones provocadas por las guitarras expresan el sentimiento punk que sienten las bandas. También se debe hablar de las letras. En el caso de ésta conocidísima canción de los Sex pistols se puede hablar sobre el dominio (o sumisión como el nombre de la canción) que el cantante expresa sobre su amor. Entre otras palabras de como su pareja lo domina y como éste se hunde con ello. A ello también debería agregarle el hecho que el vocalista lo canta con un tono de queja, lo cual lo convierte en una protesta contra ese dominio.
